A magnificent coming-of-age story of three brothers born in L.A. to Iranian parents. Growing up under the control of a father who refuses to work, wastes money gambling, and is out of touch with reality, the three brothers are shaped by events early in their lives. The long-lasting effects of these traumatic experiences is explored in the perception of the youngest and most sensitive of the three brothers, K, as well as his meditations on identity and belonging. However, this is a story about hope, community, brotherly love and, more than anything else, the small moments of happiness that promise a better future. A warm portrayal of boyhood written in tender and lyrical prose.
