Lákíríboto is the sophomore novel by the Nigerian author ayọ̀délé olọ́fintúàdé. They deliver a rousing, delectable and painful tale, tying in family saga tropes, mobsters, queer ways of being and narration from the Yoruba deity who rules over all mischief, Esu. The story is sparked off by the death of a matriarch, forcing us to contend with the vile ways in which the four women centred are asked to accept violence as normal. This is a book about survival, and how these women take charge of their sexualities, finances and fates.
